DIY Craft Desk Build
My office is always changing, I feel that as I grow, my needs change. A long time ago I shared how I built my last DIY Craft Desk, and while it worked for a while, it no longer suited my needs. This past year I have really developed a passion for wood working and building things from scratch, so I decided it was time to upgrade my current work area to a new DIY Craft Desk.
Before I headed to my local hardware store, I did a rough sketch of exactly what I wanted in a desk. Since I do a lot of food photography, I needed somewhere to house my wood and vinyl backdrops so that they would not warp or be ruined.
I decided to use melamine so that I would not have to sand or paint. Plus, the hard coating makes a nice smooth surface. I ended up purchasing 3 of the 4 foot by 8 foot boards. I had the store cut the boards down into 32 inch sections. So I ended up with 6 boards that were 32 inches by 4 feet, and 3 boards that were 33 inches by 4 feet. I used the 33 inch boards for the top and bottom, and the other boards to build the shelfs inside.
