I have been in the mist of a complete and total office overhaul this week! I already posted on how I gave my desk a $10 makeover, but that was just the beginning of my reorganizing madness! As I have started to move things I realized that I needed some pretty accessories for my new makeover, especially a place to put my jewelry to keep it from being destroyed while I worked. I knew what I wanted, but couldn’t find anything that I liked in the store, so of course, I decided to make it! This DIY Petal Jewelry Holder was super easy to make, and I already had everything that I needed on hand!

Items Needed:

Air Dry Clay

Craft knife

Leaves from around the yard

Rolling Pin

Paint

Small bowl

Sandpaper

Start off by rolling out a few pieces of clay so that they are large enough for your leaves. I found that keeping the clay 1/2 inch thick worked the best for drying. After clay has been rolled out, place your leaves onto the clay, veins side down into the clay, and roll over them gently with the rolling pin.

Remove leaf from clay and cut around to remove the excess clay. I decided on four leaves, but you can do as many or as little as you like for this project. After all of my leaves were cut out, I arranged in a position that I liked. I placed them over the bottom of a bowl and gently pressed them together so that after they dried they would be one piece.

I decided to paint the outside and inside different colors to give it contrast. After the paint was dry, I gave the inside a light spray of silver spray paint to really bring out the details in the leaves. I love the way it turned out, and it makes a great addition to my desk. I may need to make another for my night stand!

I would definitely buy this if I saw it in a store. I love the colors you used to paint it!
