July 12, 2020 by Jamie Satterwaite Leave a Comment

In the past few weeks, I have been sharing a lot of projects that I needed to do to decorate my shed to office conversion. This week is really no different because no she shed is complete without an adorable doormat! It was hard to decide what fandom I wanted to do, but ultimately I went with this DIY Doctor Who Doormat! And, if you want to, I have provided the SVG and Silhouette file for you for free!

This project was super easy to do and required very little items. The biggest problem you may come across is getting your vinyl to stick to your mat properly. Materials

  • Vinyl
  • Transfer Tape
  • Spray Paint
  • Painters Tape
  • Doormat
  • Cut File

Instructions

  1. Using your cutting machine, cut your design.
  2. Weed your vinyl to make a stencil.
  3. If your transfer tape is really sticky, press it against some scrap fabric so that it is not so sticky.
  4. Use your transfer tape and apply your stencil to your mat.
  5. Mask off the rest of the exposed mat with masking tape or painters tape.
  6. When spray painting, use light passes to avoid bleeding.
  7. Repeat passes with spray paint until you reach your desired opacity.
  8. Let dry for 1-2 hours and remove the stencil and extra tape.
  9. Allow to cure for 24-48 before using.

DIY Harry Potter Quidditch Broom Holder

July 6, 2020 by Jamie Satterwaite Leave a Comment

As I finish up the final details of my shed to office conversion, I found that I needed a few things. One of those things being someplace to store my broom. Since it was a shed, and I wanted as much floor space as possible, there is no closet. Which means, if I do not store it in the loft, it is out in the office. I did not want to have to dig around in the loft just to sweep, so I needed a place to store my broom, and of course, it needed to look nice. So, today I am sharing how I made this DIY Harry Potter Quidditch Broom Holder!

DIY Sorting Hat Bubble Bars without SLS

We have made a lot of DIY Beauty products in the past, but have not done one in a while. I figured it was time to start back up again, and these DIY Sorting Hat Bubble Bars without SLS seemed to be the perfect place to start. Even though I have so many soap making products, but no SLS (or SLSA). I did not want to order it, but I wanted to make Bubble Bars, so I improvised. This Bubble Bar recipe without SLS is super easy, and you probably already have everything you would need!

DIY Screen Printing with Vinyl!

April 16, 2019 by Jamie Satterwaite Leave a Comment

DIY Screen Printing with Vinyl!

If you have been around for a while, you know I have a passion for my Silhouette cutting machine. You can use it to make decals for shirts, design and print your own stickers, the projects are endless! I love cutting vinyl designs, but I always felt like I was wasting the negative of the cuts. But, did you know you can use the negatives to do your own DIY Screen Printing with vinyl?

For this project I used I used the negative of a decal I cut, of course I went with a Star Wars theme. You will also need the following:

  • Embroidery Hoop
  • Fabric Ink
  • Squeegee, or putty knife
  • Sheer fabric (I used an old sheer curtain)
  • Painters Tape or masking tape

DIY Screen Printing with vinyl

If you are careful and wash your screen with cold water after, you can reuse the screen and vinyl to make multiple prints. Check out the video below to see how to do this DIY Screen printing with vinyl project!

The key to getting a good print is to make sure you press your vinyl down and remove as many air bubbles as possible. Thicker fonts and designs also work better with the project.

Free Star Wars Printables with a Coffee Theme!Free Star Wars Printables with a Coffee Theme!

If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I am a HUGE Star Wars fan… I mean HUGE, like I would decorate my entire house in a Star Wars theme if my husband would let me. But, of course, he reminds me that we are adults, not kids, and need to show some restraint. I opted for some vintage farm prints for my dinning area, but I am in the middle of building a coffee bar and was bound and determined to get something Star Wars in my kitchen. I can’t wait to show you the finished project, but I am not completely done with the bar, so it won’t be until next week. But, I am excited and impatient, so I am sharing some of the Star Wars printables that I have come up with.

I mean, how stinking’ awesome are these? Storm Troopers, Darth Vader, Yoda, Admiral Ackbar… and of course, my all time favorite, Bobba Fett! So, be sure to grab some of these awesome free Star Wars Printables to hang in your coffee area!

To download, right click and save them to your desktop. Each Star Wars Printable is sized for an 8×10 frame.
