DIY Soda Cake! | Summer Gift Idea!
The end of the school year is here, which means teacher appreciation gifts and graduation gifts. Surprisingly, I have no one close to me graduating this year, but the kiddos are both in school, and those teachers deserve a gift. They have put up with my kids all year long, teaching them, playing with them and all the time smiling. I give them a much deserved Thank You, the job is a tough one. This year we decided to give the teachers a fun summer inspired gift of some of their favorite things, this DIY Soda Cake features some cool Coca Cola and their favorite candy.
I had to do some digging but I finally found their names on the Share a Coke bottles at Walgreens.
I loved that they had this handy display in the photo department so I didn’t look like a crazy lady digging through the refrigeration section of the store! But, thankfully they had some nice cool ones too! I knew I would need a lot of Soda for the project, so I took advantage of the Coca-Cola deal they have going on at Walgreens. Every Wednesday through Friday from 4:00 to 7:00pm, Buy 1 Coca-Cola 20 oz. bottle and Get 1 Free 20 oz. bottle to share! You can load the coupon instantly on the Walgreens app or click here for more information.
Plus, May through July you get 3,000 Balance Rewards points when you buy participating Coca-Cola products when you purchase $10 of participating Coca-Cola products.
For this project I used 7 20oz bottles and 3 of the super cute 8.5oz bottles! You can use a combination of bottles or cans for this project, which is great for if you can’t find the smaller bottles.
For the project you will need the following:
- 10 inch cake circle
- 8 inch cake circle
- 7 20oz bottles of Soda
- 3 8.5oz bottles of Soda, or 3 cans
- Candy Bars (as many as you please)
- Ribbon
- Scissors
- Cute label
If you would like to add a cute label for the top, here is the one I used:
I started on the bottom tier and assembled the large soda bottles in a circle and secured them using ribbon.
For the bottom tier, I combined the smaller sodas and candy together and secured them together with more ribbon.
Fill in any areas that need some more love with ribbon and stack the two layers together. I transported the Soda Cake in two separate pieces and then stacked them once I arrived at the school.
